Plot Summary:
"Teen Vogue" follows its mother magazine's (Vogue) template, but advertises and markets to young adult females. It has a table of contents that follows a common layout of articles, glossy photos, fun quizzes, a charity page, advice columns, and beauty tips.

Critical Evaluation:
This magazine is relevant to the age group that it markets to and is a little more mature than its counterpoint magazines that market to the same age group. The magazine is heavy with ads, and celebrity gossip, but it also does have articles that are important in the news and may be able to help girls in this age group. I like that it is modelled after the widely famous magazine Vogue, but I think that it could use more real world advice for young women and could do well to encourage moral values along with fashion advice. The language that the magazine uses in fun and upbeat, and the layouts are packed with popular trends. The only downside to the trends in the magazine are that they focus on designer trends and can be very expensive in comparison to teen budgets.

Booktalking Ideas:
The charity section of the magazine is helpful for young girls to give back
The magazine is comparable to the widely popular "Vogue"
It speaks to teen girls about what they are interested in

Genre:
Style/ Beauty

Interest Age:
16+

Challenge Issues:
Sexuality for teenagers & Expensive clothing
I would combat the sexuality factor with the idea that they answer pertinent questions that girls ask, and it relates to the romantic ideals of girls- not just the sexual portion of thing.
As for the idea that the clothes are too expensive and it encourages them to purchase about what they can afford, I would say that they often provide layouts of how to get the same style for less, and it is a spin- off magazine for "Vogue" which only features labels and designer clothing. Many people keep these magazines for their own library collection of fashionable ways to dress.

Why this Magazine?
This magazine is popular for young girls and models after one of the most popular magazines- Vogue!
